From Overcoming Adversity to Inspiring Leadership at Chubb

A Foundation Built on Strength and Family
Brandon’s roots run deep in Blackburn, where he grew up surrounded by a loving family. His parents, both hardworking individuals, instilled in him a strong sense of determination and resilience. His mother, in particular, has been his rock. Despite facing health struggles that once left her with only weeks to live, she defied the odds and emerged stronger than ever, teaching Brandon the invaluable lesson that no matter what life throws at you, strength and perseverance can see you through.
Raised in a predominantly female household, Brandon humorously recalls his childhood, often joking about how his sisters may have shaped his understanding of who he truly is. But it was the support of his family that helped him embrace his sexual identity, despite societal pressures. His journey of self-acceptance wasn’t always easy, but it’s a testament to his courage in the face of adversity.
Turning Trauma Into Strength
At 17, Brandon embarked on a long-distance relationship that eventually brought him to Newcastle. What began as a hopeful step into adulthood took a difficult turn as he faced emotional and physical trauma. However, through the pain and hardship, Brandon emerged with newfound strength and clarity, which has since shaped his beliefs and moral compass.
This period of his life, though challenging, ultimately led Brandon to a place of healing, where he met his current partner and began to rebuild. This resilience has become a central theme in his role at Chubb, where he now leads with empathy and understanding, guided by the lessons learned from his past.
The Journey to Self-Discovery and ADHD Diagnosis
Brandon’s path to self-awareness took another important turn when he was diagnosed with ADHD at 21. Having always struggled in school, he was often labelled as the “naughty kid,” a tag that made him feel misunderstood and overlooked. It wasn’t until after leaving school that he began researching ADHD and eventually sought the help he needed.
The diagnosis was a turning point. Though it was bittersweet – revealing years of missed support – Brandon chose not to dwell on the past. Instead, he embraced his true self, understanding that his unique mind had its strengths and he no longer had to live under the weight of judgment.
Diverse Experiences Shaping a Strong Leader
Brandon’s career journey is anything but conventional. From his first job at 13 distributing leaflets to working on a family farm to serving in the Army Cadets, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant, he has always embraced new challenges with open arms. Each experience taught him discipline, leadership, and resilience – traits that now define his role as a leader.
Life at Chubb: A Place for Growth and Purpose
Brandon’s journey brought him to Chubb, where he initially joined as an Engineer Dispatcher. What began as a hesitant step into a customer service role quickly turned into a fulfilling career. At Chubb, he found a place to thrive and a purpose. The relationships he’s built with his colleagues, especially engineers, have created a supportive environment where everyone looks out for one another.
Brandon’s involvement in internal initiatives, such as Green Day and the Wellness Community, reflects his passion for supporting others. Through the Wellness Community, he’s found a new mission: to empower and ensure that others feel heard and valued at work. His goal is to continue making a positive impact and to lead by example, helping others find the same sense of fulfilment and purpose that he’s found at Chubb.
A True Leader Beyond the Workplace
Brandon’s life experiences have not only shaped his career but also his personal philosophy. His trauma, his battles with ADHD, and his upbringing have made him a compassionate, empathetic leader – one who is committed to creating a workplace where diversity is celebrated and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Whether through his leadership in the Wellness Community, his ability to connect with people from all walks of life, or his unwavering belief that everyone deserves a chance to succeed, Brandon inspires those around him.
Looking Toward the Future
Brandon’s aspirations continue to grow as he seeks new ways to contribute to Chubb and support his colleagues. His passion for wellness and his vision for a dedicated role to champion teammate well-being within the company reflect his deep commitment to making a lasting difference.
Beyond his work, Brandon dreams of travelling to Canada, where he can immerse himself in the world of ice hockey and experience the thrill of skating on a frozen lake. His passion for life, combined with his unwavering belief in the power of self-improvement and resilience, drives him forward.
One thing I can’t live without
My weighted blanket, without a doubt. There are so many health benefits, you wouldn’t believe! It helps you sleep, relieves stress and much more.
Favourite singer
Sam Fender. He used to come into the shop where I worked while I lived in Newcastle, so when I saw him in concert, it was a full-circle moment!
Favourite Meal
Dauphinoise potatoes. I love to cook, not just any meals, I’m talking proper fine dining! I cook for my family a lot too and they love it.
Biggest Inspiration
I look up to Simon Squibb. He is a social media entrepreneur who helps people chase their dreams, no matter how big or small. I just think he is a true inspiration. He got bullied his whole life, and people told him that he’d never get far. Now, he’s proved everyone wrong and is doing so well in life. It just shows that no matter what people tell you, if you put your mind to something, you can get it.
Dream Person to See in Concert
I know he isn’t around anymore, but it must be Bob Marley. I’ve always loved Bob Marley. I used to work at a Caribbean restaurant where they played his songs, and since then, I have become an even bigger fan!
How Would Your Family Describe You?
I think they’d describe me as caring and loving. I was raised mostly around females, and I feel like that has shaped my personality in a way. I think that I have adopted nurturing traits from my sisters and mum.
How Would Teammates Describe You?
They would say I am bubbly, outgoing, and stubborn when I want to be, but we all can be like that, can’t we? People would say I am approachable and understanding. A lot of people tend to come to me for advice. I have helped people get diagnosed with ADHD by confiding in me.
Dream Job as a Child
When I was younger, my dream was always to be a cruise ship entertainer, right up until I quit dancing when I did my GCSEs. If I had stayed with dance, I could’ve made it far into that line of work. It was either that or an air host, but I knew deep down that I would get bored of it as it’s the same thing every day, even though I love traveling.
