Chubb, a leading provider of security and fire-safety solutions for businesses and industry, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of a new high-performance workspace in Blackburn. The new building will house a total of 400 employees from Chubb and affiliates of Otis UK and Carrier Controls UK, and serve as a showcase for the capabilities of all three brands. Chubb is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Tracy Cordes, managing director of Chubb Fire & Security said, “With this new building, we have created a safer, smarter and more sustainable environment that will be a great place for our employees and their colleagues to work. The building is on track to achieve a BREEAM very good rating, so it will be amongst the top 25% of buildings for sustainability in the UK.”
The development, which saw the demolition of three existing Chubb buildings on the Shadsworth Business Park, has resulted in a modern building for employees working in information technology, finance, supply chain and customer service. It is also the new home for two specific businesses of Chubb: Chubb Systems – which specializes in the most complex, enterprise-wide installations including critical infrastructure – and Chubb Community Care, including their research, development and engineering teams.
“This is the culmination of many years of hard work for the Chubb team, from planning through to build and relocation,” said Craig Forbes, finance director, Chubb. “We are delighted with the results and believe it greatly enhances our credentials as a good local Blackburn employer. We are also extremely grateful for the support of the council, local community and contractors who have made it possible.”
